Texas sex Ed: " you'll bleed once a month. Here's a pad have a good day. "
And so when I got my first one I thought it was literally once ... Not a fucking week
Same,well kinda
I thought it was "one-and-done",not once a month. The teachers who taught us about periods never told us that they happen monthly..

Mine was a nightmare. Got it at 14, we'd actually had sex ed about a week before and we were given a pack of pads and leaflets about menstruation so we were well informed. Anyway, I was cramping hard the day before (I just thought it was a stomach ache) and when I woke the next day I saw blood all over my bed. It. Was. EVERYWHERE! And I was terrified because I thought my Mum was going to be mad at me (it sounds silly but my Mum was really strict, like no food or drink allowed in any room but the kitchen and conservatory or your gonna get your ass kicked kind of strict) so I hid all my messed clothing and bedding in my wardrobe, had a shower put a pad in my knickers and carried on. This happened for the rest of the week, until one day after I'd gone to the loo and for some reason the toilet refused to flush properly, I didn't know that until one of my 4 brothers cane running into the kitchen asking why there was blood in the toilet.
All of the blood fell from my face (and presumably out of my chuff lol), my Mum guessed I'd started my period and took the wrap for me. She took me to one side and was very lovely about it all, telling me how to use a tampon etc. She was a bit miffed I'd hidden the blood soaked bedding and clothes cus they're hard stains to get out but was otherwise fine.
Segregated as separating boys and girls, then yes. I did up throught sixth grade, and then for seventh on we were in the same room. (Awkward!)

Wow. I didn't know that was still a thing :/
We don't really have that over here in the UK (there are a few religious schos that still do that I think and we have same sex schools)
@emperorpenguin2 I went to a co ed school but when it came to sex ed boys and girls were separated to make it a little less awkward. So while the girls learned about periods the guys were in another room learning about wet dreams and such.
In my district we learn about the parts and how a baby is made in middle school and then freshmen year we learn about safe sex and then junior year we learn about parenting and get the robot babies, each class blended boys and girls, most awkward thing ever.

You get robot babies??? Wooooow. That's neat, I bet it's annoying af tho lol. Yeah that sounds awkward. We learnt basic about how babies are made in about...year 3-4 (ages about 7-8 to 8-9) then about sex in year 6 (ages 11-12), puberty in year 8 (ages 13-14) and safe sex throughout years 10 & 11(ages 15-16+)
wait you learn about sex how babies are made BEFORE you learn about what puberty is?

Yeah, not about the pleasure part of it. It was more scientific and matter of fact. They showed us a vid in year 4 of a woman giving birth. It was nasty. You sort of get taught about puberty in year 6 but it's kinda skimmed over. They taught us about it properly in year 8 as at that age we were closer to going through it than earlier.

My 8th grade sex ed teacher: Your dick gets hard when you rub, balls make jizz, sex has many healthy factors, but don't do it because you could get AIDS
My grandma sex ed: "There were no sexes, we were one being (this is actually Greek, Socratic, and also kinda true, amoeba and shit, but the next part is weird) , one day, God was jealous about our perfection and He cut us in half. Women bleed to this day, and men, He broke His axe in your crotch area, and you're left with "clubs between your legs" (boners)". That's sex ed teacher award.
It's pretty ironic that places that refuse to teach sex ed because "it's inappropriate" (mostly places full of religious fundamentalists) also have the highest teen pregnancy rates.
Alternatively, what I experienced:
"Sex is bad. This is what will happen if you have sex. *cut to a horrific slideshow* Fill out these worksheets on the various diseases you get when you have sex. Abstinence is the only way to have sex without dying."
You voices will change, u get muscles, and you get sweaty and have impure thoughts. And girls bodies get revenge on you every month for not having a baby by literally ripping the inner linings of your uterus!!
And so when I got my first one I thought it was literally once ... Not a fucking week
