If you are asking you probably already know the difference and needn't ask. Transfer speeds are measured in bits not bytes. Storage is measured in bytes, not bits. But you'll always find some store (physical or online) messing it up.

That is not really the market niche they intend to fill. The goal is to supply low latency information at near light speed to allow financial info to reach companies and be reacted to instantly. The network will have limited bandwidth but very low latency.
One gigabit or one gigabyte?!
