It's actually been disproven over and over again
The only way you could actually prove a wage gap is to have two people go to the exact same school, graduate with the same grades, have the same time of experience with the same companies, and MAYBE you could prove it but you'd have to add a few other factors as well. And that's only if it was real.
Also, the main reason people point out the flaws in it is that they take in the wages of all men and all women and get the average from that, not specifics in fields or experiences in those fields, or the fact that there's more women in lower paying jobs like teaching and childcare, while guys tend to be in the higher paying ones like construction and engineering ( which is itself an issue of its own, but I shame the bitches who yell for the need of women in STEM field but major in something stupid like women's studies or a specific language that wont get them a job in anything at all )
Also it completely ignores the fact that many women (like, a vast majority) usually stop working around their late 20s - early 30s to have children and raise a family. Of course your earnings are going to be nothing when you don't have a job and are looking after kids.
Not saying there aren't stay-at-home dads, or families with two working parents, but usually the father does work and the mother looks after the children. Nothing inherently good or bad about that.
Right, and to add to that, some companies don't want to hire you for a full time position if you're just going to quit or need an extended paid leave within a short amount of time. It's not financially smart.
I haven't done any research but in my case I believe pay has always been pretty equal among coworkers and I. I think it is obvious though in hollywood when any household name actress makes less than any household name actor. Now i know they are still making a ridiculous amount of money, but leading roles should make the same.
Well I think the problem with acting is how well known, and also the actors get to set their own price. You're pretty much buying their time, so if you want a household name you have to give them what they want, and different actors ask for more or less for the role ( like Tom Hanks only got 50k for You Story, even though that was a bit, than some movies where he made millions and they didn't do as well ). Plus, certain actors also get shares, so they make more besides their paycheck for the movie as the movie gets more. So actors is kind of like the same as comparing freelance workers, it's really tricky to do.
I can't wait for all the women posting to come into the job world and realize in fact, with empirical support, the wage gap exists. Happy slap in the face
Would you like to provide some proof to that statement, guest ? Or are many of us fully grown women who are already in the work force just supposed to take a anonymous randos word for it ?
Back in the good old days of the industrial revolution, Men that were working in factories had practically no job security, because any time a women or child came along that was looking for work they were fired immediately. Women and children were paid less for the same work, so they were always hired. Until the government installed laws that prevented people from being fired at a moments notice, and made sure women recieved equal pay, work was dangerous, and there was little to no job security. It took years of protests and strikes to get it that way. We should always strive to improve the world further, instead of fighting eachother over what cause is worthy.
One rational reason to pay some people more than others is that they do a better job. Of course we can't possibly consider that that could be true in some cases.
I could literally make you a whole list of educated illegal immigrants, but I don't care enough to spend that time on you. It's idiotic to think that they're all half educated and unintelligent. Like jumping over an imaginary border people put there somehow makes you less intelligent or less of a person.
No idea why you are downvoted barcode. There are educated inmigrants that sadly can't legally work. While people with the means to go to school and work don't. In either case is not "all" but it's still true for some, and sad.
@barcode ...
Post information on how many are failures .... lmao! Yeah we have brain surgeons and rocket scientist flying across the border..... come on now you find 1 article about 1 guy and try to paint it like we need them . ... did this guy take his new skillz back to where he came from ?
Umm I'm trying to say he should go back to where he come from and help there .... you know, the place he left because it was so shity, why not try to change the shittiness about it... I welcome anyone who produces ... it's all the bum ass losers I have a problem ith
Most of them want a better life, not to help the shitty country where they come from. I don't see how one successful person could substantially make an impact on the government/country that they come from by simply going back to it, you need a whole movement to change the corruptness sewn throughout the country. These people are just trying to have better lives. And what do you think about us not needing them as you said?

That's kind of a weak argument to stand on. You can't just repeat what I said, say an inspirational quote and hope that debunked my argument. You provided no details of how they would even realistically do this. Most know that if they also try to do anything about it they will get killed along with the rest of their family. So you tell me which sounds more appealing, leaving and trying to get a better life or going back and facing almost certain death from the country you are trying to help. It takes a certain kind of person to start a movement, and you have to realize that not everyone is cut out for that, and most of these people aren't. If you send someone back who is not cut out for it then it's just another dead person who wasted their new found knowledge and skills. Plus the majority of them aren't in positions of power as their jobs. Most go into labor or agriculture or some other "workforce" type job. These people are just trying to live better, they're not cutout...
Their problem isn't their country, it's their current living conditions. So running from their problem literally did solve it, because the conditions were shitty there.
You are hands down one of the worst debaters I have witnessed/engaged with. Not only did you use rhetoric, and arguments with no factual backing, but you've consistently completely ignored multiple points I've made that dispel important points in our conversation. If you can't argue in a mature and sophisticated way then I must say I have to stop. Believe that you "won" or I'm dumb or whatever you want, but know that what I said above is the real reason I cannot continue.
I'm not playing dumb, if you looked back I talked about how their country is shitty and corrupt. But their problem is more at a personal level rather than the country as a whole is the point that you didn't get. I'm not saying that new problems don't also get created, I'm just denying the rhetoric that they are all useless, uneducated, people who are the problem with this country. Yes I completely agree, can't debate someone who is playing dumb, just like what you do when you don't acknowledge new facts represented, play dumb.
True, the only reason I actually responded was because of his playing dumb comment. I only comment this much when I'm in a debate/conversation/argument.
Cuz the guy sticks around longer so that's how he ends up getting paid more. Women tend to leave the work force or not choose the same the career paths as men (and vice versa)
The only slight shred of truth to the wage gap is unconscious bias. People might not mean to, but men are more likely to be hired than women simply because that's how the interviewers were used to :/

There's only so much work a half-educated border hopper can do without being seen.

Then why tf did they leave ... can't debate someone who is playing dumb
