I believe that angels are just people that have passed on, or have yet to be born. I also believe that they have the same gender that they had/will have on Earth.
Angels don't have gender. They're too removed from anything human or anything even living to have anything like gender. I mean, some angels are chariot wheels cloaked in holy fire and eyes.

With the power of an angel, either gender could do the required duties.
And yeah, angels were genderless beings. I'm not a Christian or anything, but I do know that much.
