I love the similarity between the Mongolian sword, the arabian sword, and to a lesser degree the american officer's sword. They all have that curved blade, because they were all intended to be used from horseback.

katanas were also curved blades. the reason is that they're easier to maneuver while moving at faster speeds and cause more damage
Incorrect. The curvature was an artifact of the forging process. While the side effect may be that it made slashing much easier, it's not why the curve is there.
