This is probably an unpopular opinion but:
Its wonderful that the first teddy bear tried to help second one, but it was his decision to do so (and give up so much of himself to that extent). Its horrible that she's ungrateful, but she technically doesn't owe him the affection he's starved for when she didn't ask for help. Yes, she's terrible, but he's the one who chose to help. She's not under any obligation to give him anything back.
Morale of the story: no one is worth giving yourself up for, and never expect to receive what you've given
