I have severe hearing loss, so I can relate. I hear all kinds of weird stuff by mistake, so I repeat the things I hear. Get a lot of laughs that way.

That's what I was wondering how in the world could you not understand that? Then it hit me he was probably doing everything else BUT paying attention. Just like when people get in their cars they don't get in too drive, they get in to text, eat, brush their teeth, put on make up, read anything, etc.
