Absolute Radio in the UK is a bit like this, there was one DJ who used to joke that Heart FM was "mum" radio, he got taken down a peg or two when someone messaged saying their teenage son thought Absolute was "dad" radio

We can buy Lipton iced tea here which is OK, I imagine home made is much nicer but even so I'd always choose a cup of Yorkshire tea (milk, no sugar thanks!)

My British brain thought tea straight away, hadn't even considered it might be coffee!

It's obviously the man talking, if it was Death there'd be no speech marks and it would be in all capitals. Also, he had this sort of problem adapting when he first started work on the farm.

The pub quiz I go to (pre-lockdown) does the occasional Richard Cheese music round, always a good week when that happens!

I love all the memes with the rhymes in iambic pentameter, on Facebook I saw a guy diss a corporation for using the spelling pattern in one of their advert posts so I made one up about him, he reacted with an angry emoji

Yep same in the UK, drinking age is 18, most people were getting drunk on cheap spirits in a park by 15/16

Crafts people's knowledge is so important, I've seen another post about some sort of bone tool from absolutely ages ago and the historians couldn't figure out what it was for, they happened to show someone who works with leather and it was basically the same tool as they use now for 'burnishing' the leather.

Because people can make up quotes for their own agenda and if they were said by a famous person or character it gives them a false credibility and other people then share them.

Probably not, I see loads of these where I'm pretty sure they weren't written by A. A. Milne. My friend had a wedding reading made up of "Winnie the Pooh quotes" and half of them were just random ones off the internet

I think when converted properly they are insulated, it's not just a case of sticking your furniture in a metal box and you're done

There was a house built using shipping containers on Grand Designs and it was a nightmare because once you start cutting them to put things like windows in they lose all their structural integrity. It looked amazing once it was done though.

I agree, was warned by someone who grew up in France not to bother with the Louvre and particularly the Mona Lisa when I went to Paris and I ignored them.
Queued for hours to get in, the room where the Mona Lisa is was crammed with people, literally like being in the front of a concert with everyone pushing to get closer and the painting itself is a lot smaller than I realised so unless you join in the pushing you don't get a great view.
Leave it and go to the Orangerie nearby instead with all of Monet's waterlilies paintings.

Not always on the cinnamon thing! I did the exact amount it said for a pear and cinnamon cake and it tasted awful, just cinnamon overpowering everything

Stone is part of the imperial system, it's 14 pounds. Also, no-one apart from maybe people who use the metric system for their jobs take the piss out of America for using imperial. We use it all the time, beer and milk is in pints, babies weights are announced in lbs and ozs, road signs are in miles and loads more examples I can't be bothered to type as I've said this so many times on this site
