I have a coat like that. I wear it when I'm wearing a suit and it's cold outside.

Times change and fashion changes and for good reason. You can still wear timeless clothing though like a suit

So make it a thing. There will be enough people who'll find it awesome. I don't care about fashion or trends, when I see something unusal I like, I wear it. It feels good, just try it.
