There absolutely is a moral obligation to be healthy, otherwise you're just a drain on society and in any world where we don't give a shit about others, we would instantly cut you from society for encouraging your body to be in a state where it minimally contributes.
I agree with her only on one thing the fact that he wouldn't ask a thin person if they were healthy.
Just because you are over weight does not mean you are unhealthy.
My father when he was 50 was in the 300s yet he was told by the doctor he was in really good health. He had no health problems except he was over weight.
When he died at 70 he developed dementia and his body just gave up. He had gotten so thin he was anorexic. When his mind started to go so did his ability to feed himself. It was never due to his weight that he died it was due to his mind. It could of happen to a thin person or an over weight person.
Well my argument is what healthy is cause I believe if it interferes with your life you are unhealthy. My dad like your dad was at the exact same position and he wanted to play ball with me. He got 10 minutes in and he had to sit down and could not play because he could not move all 300 pounds for more than ten minutes at that speed. No matter how much he wanted to he couldnt do it physically. I mean he couldnt do his job which involved rewiring things in houses he had to get me to do it because his hand was so fat he could quite grab the wires out. That in my mind is what unhealthy is.
