The 30 days before Easter. We sacrifice something to remember to be humble and that Jesus sacrificed himself. You dont have to give up something, but its advised you do.

Actually I have never done it. Catholicism is different in America. I am hispanic and we don't have the easter bunny for example. But I do know Carnaval originates because of easter. It is a party before the 40 days of lent start. For which you just needed to give up bad stuff or vices. Now people have updated it to "vices" or addictions like facebook

I'm giving up chips. In result of that I've been asking my mom to buy me animal crackers and granola bars in replace of chips cuz I need something crunchy and salty
