I despise people like this with every fiber of my being.

It bothers me in principal, but in reality things are greasy. Tax breaks, public image, or even from boredom or to travel/meet people, many volunteer or donate money for less than selfless reasons. Some corporations donate more money or work hours to charity in a year than most people can in a lifetime. Compared to someone with only selfless intent who sits on the couch or does less, someone who gives out of selfishness may not be right in principal but they are making a difference. Few people bother to see donations through. From wounded warriors and others who "pocket" the money, to live aid or overseas home building, or most ewaste recycling (making things worse), or clogging up aid with material donations bs cash, to using charity to get rid of their junk. So even those with good meaning who act often would help more by doing nothing. In the end it may be wrong in principal and it may annoy me, but to those truly in need motives are less critical than relief.

if you are selfless for personal fame you are selfish. you are using them as tools to get your fix. you can argue that at least these people are getting something that they need and the cost is worth it. though where i appreciate helping the needy, you are still crap for exploiting them this way. i have done many good deeds that i just walk away from. i don't stay to bask in the glory of my accomplishments. i do, then go. you want to be selfless, be ninja. if you want to argue it was to show others what they should do. do it, blur your face and post anonymously. the only way i could ever see it being understandable to accept the fame is if you use the youtube proceeds to get the funds to help others. i would begrudgingly accept that

Well you're kind of contradicting yourself by saying "i have done many good deeds that i just walk away from".

but i didn't talk about them, nor am i saying how many. i used this fact, because it is relevant to the comment. for all you know my good deed is giving a dime to an old lady so she could buy cat food. or i ended up spending months at a soup kitchen. you don't know, because i didn't mention what it was. BTW neither of those were something i did. i have talked about some things i did before. but it was relevant to the comment i was making. i tend to use myself as an example so it is hard to not use past experiences as a means to tell people "if i can do this, you can too"
