@aeacus: Yes, calderas are formed by volcanic explosion or collapse. It's an unlikely stretch, but there's no point in not considering all options.

But the moon is solid rock all the way through, a volcanic eruption would be impossible. Pretty sure there are only craters from crater impacts on the moon.

wolfballoonsquad is right in that the moon does have volcanism but that crater is not one of the Moon's volcanoes
