Why would you put free speech in quotes? Speech that you don't agree with, even disgusting, reprehensible speech is protected, as it should be.

What's sad is that many want to legislate hate speech, yet can offer no better of a definition than you. According to a University of Florida professor protesting a Ben Shapiro appearance on campus, hate speech is "when you attack specific groups or people, like you make fun or have derogatory comments about transgender people or women." When asked if as part of free speech, hate speech should be protected, her response was "no, it shouldn't be protected. It becomes dangerous." Given that every single person can be associated with a group, pretty much any negative comment said about anyone ever, could be defined as hate speech. The fact that people don't recognize this Orwellian notion is what's really really sad.
