Unpopular opinion: I don't think equality should have a label. I don't like having plain and simple equality being labelled as feminism,equalism,etc..bc I feel like having a specific label makes it easier to create faux equality, case in point, modern day "feminism".
I'd like to add to that as I share that opinion. Feminism was created when women weren't equal to get them to equal. That's why it's called feminism because it's always been about equality FOR women. For the most part in first world countries women have most if not all the same rights as a man.
So nowadays equality should just be common sense rather than a statement that needs to be made, and hold everyone to the standard of believing in it rather than " you're not part of this label ? Obviously you're everything we hate "
Though I do think feminism is needed in other countries where rape victims get stoned/ where fgm takes place/where child brides are/etc. Because those are usually societies that ACTUALLY oppress their women for being women and don't give them a choice, because that would be about equalling ( is that a word ? ) them out
It's called feminism because that's the name of that part of the movement that started in the women's corner. "Feminism" is not the movement. "Equality" is the movement. Feminism is the part that deals with inequality in the women's corner, like "Pride" is the LBQT part of the movement and Civil Rights (now also BLM) was/is the name of the part for minority inequality. The reason it's called Feminism and not Equalism is that it's main focus is removing the stigma of feminity. It's not "all men and women are equal," it's "a woman is not inherently worth less/undeserving of equal opportunity strictly because she is a woman" and "a man is not flawed/worthy of scorn because he has traditionally feminine traits/interests/issues." Many problems men have stem from this stigma of feminity. They have a harder time expressing emotion without ridicule, often leading more commonly to suicide; they're mocked for requesting paternal leave; they're met with disbelief when they report rape.
I just realized I should have gone with desert dessert.
Too little too late I guess

A group of infants was given an arrangement of toys, dolls, cars etc. Unsurprisingly the males gravitated towards the mechanical toys, tool toys; while the females were attracted to the toys with faces, toys they could empathize with.
Society had not yet had a chance to nurture gender roles into their brains, but also the infants were rhesus monkeys.
It's nature then nurture
I mean maybe their parents give them the kind of toys they gravitated to and that's why they did ? Cause if you give a kid a doll to play with chances are they'll go for the doll again
It's nature and nurture. Kids will have their own preferencies and tendancies no matter what you do, but you'll notice them more if you give them a variety of options.
Still, you should give them a choice no matter what

Or no choices at all.
Meaning, instead of stereotypically "gendered" toys like blue dump trucks or pink dollhouses, you give your kid cardboard boxes, markers, oatmeal drums, paper, tape, assorted legos (not the sets to build specific things), toy animals, the list goes on.
Kids don't have to choose between gendered toys if they don't have any.

Your not listening. The experiment was done with monkeys. Male brains and female brains gravitate towards different interests. Little girls want to be pretty, society didn't make it so.
So nowadays equality should just be common sense rather than a statement that needs to be made, and hold everyone to the standard of believing in it rather than " you're not part of this label ? Obviously you're everything we hate "

But I agree with desert plant pastry here, read it anyway
