Every time I hear about wisdom teeth, I get worried about when it's time for mine to be removed. Can anybody who had theirs removed tell me about the experience (or what you remember of it), and the aftermath? Is it painful? Do you forget about it? Do they keep you awake? I have a mortal fear of pain, so it stresses me out to think about it.

I'm scared to get mine out, cause I have such a strong habit of cursing
You go under anesthesia. I think you are awake, but not consciously aware of what's going on. I have no memory of when they took out my wisdom teeth. It's a bit painful in the aftermath. Your mouth will ache for a few days afterward pretty bad, but they also usually prescribe some pretty heavy duty painkillers to deal with that.
Not sure if my experience counts as mine had already grown out so they did not have to be operated out of the gums, just pulled out like any other tooth under local anesthesia. No pain during or afterwards though, one of my most pleasant visits to the dentist.
Thank you for the help, shepard and guest!! I'm also kinda worried I'll start swearing under the drugs, because I swear a lot online, but never in real life. I guess we'll have to see when it happens.
I was completely asleep and had all 4 cut out at once. If you are young you will heal quickly and they give you pain killers so it's not bad at all. I was a little loopy afterwards but just swayed a little, nothing dramatic happened like people like to post about, try not to stress about it!
But he is a 4channer so you never know
