The one with the hungry boy, the photographer wasn't allowed to go near him because of some contagious sickness or something. There was an actual reason he didn't help not just because he's a sick bastard.
The photographer, Kevin Carter, also committed suicide after all the things he saw in Sudan, including the picture he took of the vulture and starving boy.

The point is if you're making money off of others suffering, shouldn't you donate and try helping?
True, there were soldiers there that would have killed Kevin Carter if he so much as touched the girl, but this wasn't a case of seeing then shooting. Kevin Carter spent hours just waiting and watching as the small child struggled until the shot was just right. He WAS a sick bastard.
Wrong yet again, Guest. The plane that he and other photographers were on had a total of 30 minutes before their plane took off. He was not supposed to touch the kid, or they wouldn't let him back on the plane, since infectious disease was a very, very real worry there. There is an alternative accounting of Carter's explanation for the picture, but it isn't considered all that credible, as its from a competing photographer. Carter saw the picture, took the picture and - because he couldn't help the child - at least shooed the vulture away. Get your facts straight, coward.
kittyrawrrawr, by that same logic, a person who sees a burning building should run into it, rather than calling for help, but THAT would just add one more corpse to the smouldering rubble, rather than reducing the number of corpses ultimately pulled from the charred pile of debris.
Sometimes, one person bringing attention to a problem does more good than one person can do alone, trying to fix it without assistance.

Guest? My suggestion was more to donate money to the fire department so that those who are trained in handling the situation had better resources to do the job more efficiently... I'm not saying he should have risked his life saving the boy, that leaves two dead. I'm saying that if you're earning money taking photos of devastation? You should try saving it.... words remain words until they're put in to action
