A dentist has to x-ray several patients in a month, week, or even day.. You might not see them for several months, and you might not even have an x-ray then.

Right, you're only exposed to it a few seconds every 6 months or every year. If they had to be exposed to it all day every day that would be an issue.

The level of radiation today's dentists x-ray machine puts out is soooooo low, that even if they don't put the vest on you, ya not even gettin enough to really do any damage to ya. You actually get larger does from exposer from the sun or other items that emit radiation. They haft to put the vest on ya for insurance purposes.

A lead vest won't protect against scattered x-rays, only direct rays. And they don't direct the rays at your chest.

Lead is quite good against x-rays, if you'd do your research on how x-rays travel. Feel safe.
