Found in the book La Bretagne des photographes, this picture was taken by Jacques Gourmelen who happened to be at a workers strike in 1972 taking photos for a paper. Guy Burmieux is the man grabbing the riot officer (French CRS member Jean-Yvon Antignac.) Acoording to Gourmelen and depending on the version and translation- Burminiex recognized Antignac as his old school mate and emotionally bellowed at him to "just go ahead and hit me then" or something to that effect. According to the photographer Antignac stood motionless for the remainder of their confrontation. I do not know how it ended or what happened after, and only have the words of the man who shot the photo (which he described some time after the fact) to go off.
