Come on, denying racism in this time is bad, but denying racism in the past is insane!! I wouldn't go back either as an hispanic woman!! It would be like that hybrid unnatural thing!!! That doesn't know how to be a woman!! Yep nope. I am good in this time.
Hispanics were originated from spain and honestly performed greater acts of racism on black people by enslaving 10 times as many as white people and treating them harsher so as a hispanic you would probably be pretty fine
Aren't the Hispanic people, you know the ones in Mexico NOT Spain, a mix of the spainiards and the indigenous people ? With more indigenous than white which is why they're not really counted as white ?
Also, no one's denying racism.
I'll add to your history lesson and include some clarification. "Hispanic" is a broad term which can refer to any people's historically linked to Spain or Spanish colonization. It does not mean you are Spanish. That means as a "Hispanic" one could just as easily be one of the people's conquered or "colonized" by Spain, which as you point out wasn't always good to be. Further as illustrated here- many people get confused between Hispanic/Latino/mezzo American, etc. and there are many countries historically racist against these groups through the centuries. Further, we cannot assume the linguistic and cultural ties one has to their ancestry, and even if they were strong a modern person would be out of place culturally and linguistically in the past. So even if you were Spanish, you may not be recognized as such. Especially in societies where certain cues are used to identify natives and classes within the structure. And being a woman. Most of history sucks to be a woman for.
Im just saying hispanics which at one point would all lead back to spain which btw im not wrong i did say they originated from spain which is true they were a dominant power who was dominant and you probably would not suffer much racism. i mean everyone would probably suffer discrimination in the past if you left your nation regardless of your race. My whole point is that you being a hispanic women would not be as bad as you think not all people of color were enslaved and discriminated in the past.
You are correct that many places in points in history were not bad places to be a person of color, and even a few did alright by women. In a sense hispanics lead back to Spain in that Spain is the cultural touchstone, Hispanic is not a race. It has nothing to do with the country you came from, your parents, your genetics. Hispanic is an ethnicity which is comprised of peoples who have certain commonalities. For reference it is like saying speaking some French or eating frenchbread makes you white. You can be Hispanic and not "be of color," or you can be anywhere on the melanin spectrum. It's not binary and in the right place at the right time being too dark or not dark enough can be equally bad. Barring far flung history, the last several centuries support the idea. In countries where most people are "not white" they don't simply classify you as white and not white. It's a spectrum, and many can't tell an Arab from a Turk, a Dominican from an African, etc. by looking.
Well you are right about hispanic as spaniard. But myself as a product of latin american colonization, that have a little bit of white, black and indian, I don't Iwould be gracefully accept in neither european countries. Soooo,
Btw nobody say anything about white sooooo.
First no all latin americans are from Mexico. Latin american history in colonization and post colonization is a little more complex than that. First my country due to it's small size unfortunately didn't have the large number of indigenous people as other big latin america countries.
The indians in my country were almost brought to extinction due to diseases brought by colonists and inhuman labor. Some of them are believe to had to mix or convert to christianity to survive( most case involuntarily).
Due to the lack of "free-labor worker" colonist have to brought labor from Africa. Since then the african become part of the country, culture and genetics of the population( most involuntarily, again).
As more slave were brought, more incentives were made to white european to come to the country and mantain majority and control. And then more breeding and that's why for example you see more african influence and features in Latin Americans from the caribe than in Mexico.
We are among the firsts bi racial or tri-racial from America. Sorry for the multiple posts but I am very proud of my multiracial country...No the colonist part of course. That's suck
And without a doubt, if we travel to the past, they would be racism against us. Don't know why we are awesome but oh well. Fear from the unfamiliar or the distinct is the most prevalent mistake of mankind.
Not all hispanics are mixed with "white", or at least no more than we are all likely mixed at some point far enough back, or that races even exist. Hispanic is an ethnicity. It has nothing to do with genetics but a cultural touchstone with Spain. Thank you @audichan and everyone for sharing some of your history with us.

I would go back in time to ancient Egypt because I heard women had rights there! (Mostly to see the pyramids because I heard that they use to be white and covered in marble)

They were actually covered in white limestone and topped with a smaller solid gold pyramid
