Darwin defined intelligence as a species ability to do that which was required for it to survive and thrive. In the wild wolves live 4-6 years on average, far shorter than any domestic dog. The domestic dog is much better suited than a wolf to cohabitation with humans, and many wolves have been made extinct or near to by humans, only saved by humans efforts to kill them less. Dogs have found a way to survive against a human threat and live live longer with less effort. You can watch anime because we have built a world where you have the luxury of time to do so, and a more inclusive and tolerant society. Often the disappointment of those stuck in outmoded thinking is a compliment. You have evolved beyond their comprehension and gone beyond the repressive ideas of their time. Many grand (or great grand) parents would also be dissapointed by interracial marriage, homo sexuality, or even a career as an entertainer or other field. Congrats on letting them down too.
