I've read read the book... You? It broke my heart.
I have a noteable "sort of" connection to the story... the news about his discovery broke when I was on the way to go hike Mount Washington with some freinds.
Yes, I've read the book 3 times! I found the book and the movie through the soundtrack written by Eddie Vedder, which is my favorite artist of all time.
I recently saw him in concert twice, and thought of Emile Hirsch (who plays Christopher) when Eddie performed the Into the wild soundtrack. I dmmed Emile about this, as he's one of my favorite actors (and honestly just hoped he would respond) and he did! He sent me a little heart emoji, made my day!
Sweet!
Read the book, lost my copy... gave it to my ex before the whole ex thing went down, back when I still gave a damn. :(
Have the soundtrack, love it.
Haven't watched the movie yet, though I intend to.
There's a biiig, a biiig hard sun!
Beatin' on the big people, in the big hard world.
I'm so sorry to hear that :( If you can/want, buy yourself another copy! It's an amazing book to re-read and add to your collection.
Please do watch the movie! It's perfect, you can recognize all of the parts of the book.
I have Eddie's "Into the Wild" on vinyl, it's amazing. Hard sun is indeed one of my favorites :D
Mmm... vinyl. I'd be collecting it if I had the room.
Yes, planning on getting another copy... soon even. I'll have to look for it and the movie on my next excursion to my used music & book store.
I could be mistaken, but there's just something about Big Hard Sun that has a hard stomping Americana Roots feel to it... one that speaks to me.
Amazing to hear, and let me tell you, collecting records is worth it! You can find a lot of great records in secondhand stores, I got a lot of my David Bowie and Pearl Jam records in secondhand stores!
And you're definitely right, it does! I think it even has a little bit of a country vibe in there. It fit perfectly in the movie. I'm telling you, you need to watch it :P
