Damn. I thought it would only be recieving hugs from 1/10th of the bugs, as the song is about Insomnia and stuff. I thought the fireflies represented his racing thoughts, and only being able to grasp a few. Hugs are generally short, so as I pictured it, even the 1/10th he could reach, they were gone so soon.
