It can make them less aggressive and you don't have to worry about them accidentally getting something pregnant and have to deal with the children
(Idk but maybe it stops them from humping things? Probably not tho)

I've only had 2 male dogs, one of which was neutered and one wasn't, and I'll tell you, the neutered one was more aggressive. But maybe that was because he was half mastiff.
It depends on a lot of things, if he wasn't neutered he would probably have been a lot worse. But with dogs it also depends on their training. Cats however multiply with 4 litters a year if you just let them. And if you don't care about that you would probably care about the smell and noise an unneutered cat (male and female).
Also from experience neutered male dogs get easier because you take away part of their testosteron. Females are usually the ones that get stronger after being nuetered because you take away a big part of their oestrogen supply.
For cats it can stop them from spraying to mark their territory. Plus female cats getting pregnant can kill them and have complications, so it is better to have them spayed/neutered. https://www.americanhumane.org/fact-sheet/spayingneutering/
