but they would've been very, very cold....so how did you eat them without realizing they're raw?

Some people really like cold food, man. Or just don't know how to take care of themselves. Next thing you know, you're drinking tomatoe sauce because it's a smoothie, or putting tin foil over a bowl because you don't want to have to wash it later.

On a side note, did you seriously not notice? Raw or even undercooked chicken meat is gross!
