Edvenutally yes. But they have a small amount of time where they can breathe the oxygen trapped under the boat, before it's all replaced with carbon dioxide.

It's not physically possible to hold the boat when walking across the bottom like that. There would be far too much pressure to allow them to hold it without struggling. But you know how movies are, they like to defy the laws of physics.
