Ancient Roman statues were actually painted

I don't know about this specific statue, but they've done some scans that reveal trace amounts of metals used anciently in pigments, still stuck in some nooks *(edit:nooks not books) and crannies of Roman period statuary.

same thing with egyptian hieroglyphs and greek temples.
