I disagree. I would pay more for a better seat on a plane, but domestically even 1st class is garbage. Only airline companies that have a majority of domestic routes are even allowed to fly in the US, and they all collectively decided it's better for business to treat us like cattle. Outside of renting a private plane there's nothing you can do. Buses were the same for awhile, but now even a seat on a Greyhound looks luxurious compared to a seat on a plane.
It's like price fixing but with quality control instead.
Concordes had a "New Year's Special". For a ridiculous amount of money, you'd get to celebrate New Year's every time it switched timezone, for the duration of the flight.
