Doing the procedure twice means 50%x50% which it's actually 25% chances of surviving and 75% of dying not a 100% :/

That's only if he wants to die twice, he only wants to die once so that's a 50/50 chance for the first one and a 50/50 chance for the second one, just like flipping a coin, each flip is independent and each flip has a 50/50 chance
