I ask because of John Henry. He owns LFC and the Red Sox. Number 8 for the Red Sox was retired for after the legendary player Carl Yastrzemski.
While I am a supporter of the LFC, I know little of them and the game. But it stands to reason that Gerard was a player of the caliber worthy for number retirement to be considered.
Since I'm on the subject, its worth mentioning that John Henry is also co-owner of the New England Sports Network, NESN. He sees to it that the LFC games get broadcast ove there.
Also, he brings LFC over here to play matches in Fenway Park. They even have a replica of the wrought iron "You'll Never Walk Alone" gate they put up when they visit.

Sadly, I haven't had the chance yet to go.
