People are far to concerned about the frenzy that the media has whipped them into over the dick measuring contest that Rocket Man and Sweet Potato Hitler are in; scare mongering about nuclear annihilation when they STILL don't have sufficient force projection capabilities to be a legitimate threat; who's fucking who in Hollywood; who wins tonight on American Idol and their goddamned fucking lattes.

This really isn't the sort of thing that can be measured in percentages, but in probability.

The chance of you, in your lifetime specifically dying as the result of a "local" meteorite, asteroid or comet strike is 1 in 1,600,000.

However, the chance of you dying as the result of a global scale asteroid or comet impact is 1 in 75,000.
