Why girls wrap their hair in a towel

Well sometimes hair takes a long time to dry

I've had long, fairly voluminous hair before and that was never a problem, so I'm not sure of the circumstances where that would be true.

Where I live the weather is fairly humid. That makes water take longer to dry, especially after a cold shower.
