That’s actually the point. Once elected politicians become too distant from their constituents. Walking back WOULD be an acceptable solution. What’s even better is that the last few supporters will likely go down with him when the majority leave.

The politician doesn't want to walk back. Then he'd be with the common people again, subject to the same standards that anyone would be.
