Also if you don't speak the primary language of the flight crew they're not going to let you stay in that row, even if others in the row do. (Made sense as in an emergency they're not going to be translating instructions or the need to open the door, they will be translating to exit - either way it let my husband and I have the row to ourselves) Never have I ever had the amount of leg room in that picture on an emergency exit row, it's a little extra space but not that much, my husband is 6'5" tall and his knees still touch the seat in front of us when it is straight up every time so it's not just a subjective/imagined thing.
