The one instance that I know,to be true where someone lost a wallet with an enormous amount of cash was when a family was fleeing a country after selling all they had. The guy who found it was just dopey enough to not even consider keeping it and returned the wallet. His opinion was that it wasn't his, so he wasn't out anything to return it. I guess the greedy person wants to keep the money because he won't get another chance like that.
