To be completely fair, once you shoot it, holding it like that and whacking fools with it is about all a flintlock pistol is good for. Still, he is getting a little ahead of himself.

Yup. That's why they had solid brass butt plates on them, usually with a round nubbin or even a small spike on them. For splitting skulls open.
