You want food poisoning? Because this is how you get food poisoning. Food banks do not want left over rotten food. Oh, you want them to turn over the food that isn't out of date or can't be sold? Uhm, they'll keep selling it. Until it's out of date or rotten.
They would donate it on the evening the bbe date is, that's just a sale date so it looks better on the shelves, it's not dangerous the second that date/time label expires, especially if it's donated in the evening after the shops shut, when most needy people will come to shelters overnight for their shelter, so the food then is a help :)
I think this picture of vegetables is misleading.. In my old workplace we mostly got bread, bread and more bread until gregs bakery decided to start donating and then we had sandwiches, donuts, cakes, salads etc :) it was never mouldy, all absolutely fine
Well I can certainly see day old bread being useful, I'm just pretty sure that the supermarkets where I am at keep the fruit and veg until it can almost walk out by itself. And here in the US stores are required to dispose of milk and fruit juice on the use by date.
fucking turn it into jam and employ grandmas. "Rotten" food doesn't exist around grandmas.
Milk I could see being a problem... but literally everything about milk is already a problem unless boobs.

Take curdled milk and you could make biscuits with it.
