Canadian here, cost $180 CAD when my son was born. Total. But that’s cause we opted for a private room.
Of course what pays for that is the insane levels of taxation we are extorted for. I paid $6000 in income tax just in one month last year. Plus property tax, sales tax, carbon tax, sin tax.
Socialism sucks.
Dutchman here. +/- 50% of my gross income goes to various taxes. Income tax, social services, VAT, energy tax, petrol tax, municipal tax and about Eu120 a month for healthcare insurance. But I get paid sick leave, receive 70% salary for 2 years when I lose my job, most medical bills are covered, our roads are among the safest in the world, basic education is free, etc. etc.
And who would win that war anyways? I have noticed that the guys who don't like taxes seem to be the same guys that have guns.
Nevermind that such heavy taxation would undermine the very heart and soul of our history and those who came before.
Canadian here. If you paid 6000$ in income tax in one just month you must be earning serious money. If you earn 90,000 a year it works out to 1,500 a month ( with lower % for lower income ppl of course).
That's about right for me as a US taxpayer. The MARGINAL rate hit 25% but only on the last few dollars. You pay 0% on the first ~18K (married filing jointly) and then 15% on the amount up to ~70K. There are deductions for the 10% I put in my 401k and the $6K I pay for health insurance. Then there's the standard deduction of 12000 and a 4050 each exemption for me and wife and two kids..
That's federal tax. I also pay state income tax and a county income tax. I also pay property tax on my home, and a state 7% sales tax on most of the stuff I buy, but not on groceries.
