This illustrates one of my biggest hang ups with many religious types. In the Bible it is shown that Satan and presumably his minions know the book as well as any other. Passages are used to justify and tempt people to do wrong. The Bible itself warns of false prophets and wolves in sheeps clothing. This is what I don't get about many fundamentalists. The basic lessons of most religions are shared amongst them all, and shared with human decency. To respect each other and live well, to love and protect. When you interpret words from these books in a way that goes against that spirit, when you try to use these books as tools of political or ideological justification you are likely wrong. You are likely guilty of the same acts as Satan mentioned above. You've twisted the spirit of holy scripture to suit your negative impulses instead of working to be a better person and should know better if you actually read or truly believed in what you're supposedly an adherent to.
