Your parrot should train cops. Cops suck at de-escalation here. They are trained to escalate until force is required and then detain you. It makes every single one of them assholes.
Cops are absolutely trained to escalate situations.

That's just the tip of the iceberg... there was the guy that got pulled over and was harassed into letting cops search his car where they jacked $40k+ from him and the cop flat out admitted he was following protocol to escalate the situation so he could search the car. Arizona I think? I forgot where.
The care-worker in Florida who got shot while laying on the ground...
etc...etc... etc.
edit: on that link, the first part is an anecdote, you don't have to read that if you don't want to, scroll down to below the first map.
edit 2: from personal experience: I was walking to a park in my neighborhood (was like 3AM), a gated neighborhood with our own patrol... a local cop who wasn't even supposed to be there rolled up on me, got out and pointed a gun at me and demanded I get on the ground and started badgering me about what I was doing...
had to call my mom because I didn't have a DL (I was 16 at the time) to prove I lived in the neighborhood. I get most of it, but pulling a gun on me? Really?
Funkmasterrex Firstly, after just three comments I immediately get the impression that you are a complete tool! If I was a cop where you live and I saw you walking around a gated community I would pull you up too. As for being asked to get on the ground I’m going to go out on a limb and guess he did that because as soon as he pulled up you started to get mouthy like in your comment and tell him he shouldn’t be there when I’m fact the reason he probably was there was because someone in your gated community called police for some weird fuck wondering around the area at 3AM and he was doing his job well by checking that you actually live there. Secondly, the website link you put in looks super reputable *extremely heavy sarcasm* and is probably created by libtards like yourself. Thirdly, if you just do as your asked and not act like a smartass mouthy git with Police than your interactions will be happy and minimal. Lastly, IT’S A FUCKING PARROT STOP BRINGING POLITICS INTO IT!
You can go fuck yourself you have no idea how I acted. I didn't say anything, not a fucking word and had a gun pointed at me before he even asked me what I was doing. Also, I used to chill at that park all the fucking time at night, usually during the summer when I could get some pull ups in and jog a little bit since I didn't want to do it in 110 degree weather during the day. Not one fucking problem besides that. I got to know the patrol officers on a first name basis; they'd sit and chat for a minute.
Also, Riiiight... American Public Media, a non-partisan group, the second largest producer of radio programs, and also a non-profit, Is TOOOTALLLY some liberal bastion *eye roll*. Nice job even attempting to prove me wrong as well... oh wait.. must have missed that. Also, anyone who uses the word libtard is a fucking moron. Thank you, have a good day sir.
It's cool. I've had decent experiences with cops, bad ones, and that awful one. I always show them respect though, no reason to exacerbate any problem. I'm still dumbfounded why de-escalation training isn't mandatory across the US.
