Well a “shit ton” is a lot. So I’d think I would half to pay more for it, than just plane olwater that I can get out of the hose. But I am joking. It’s nuts how they can justify charging us $1-$1.50 for a bottle of water, cause they say is from some mountain spring source that only they can get it. An everybody knows they are pouring it straight from the tap that’s supplied by their city.

It's more for the convenience you're paying for, and depending on how convenient they charge more. I once had to pay $4 for a regular bottle of dasani because they were the only store for miles

Funny enough it takes about 2 gallons of water To make one gallon of coke. People pay for bottled water for convenience so are willing to pay a premium, or because they don't have a choice so you can gouge. Coke is price regulated to keep it cheap so people buy it even though it's an unhealthy novelty. Part of controlling the market is being priced attractively to consumers so they don't want to lose market share. Conglomerates can lose money on one sector of business and make that profit up elsewhere. That's part of how they lock out smaller businesses that aren't large enough to control their supply chains or move accounting across brands to equalize profits and optimize their taxes.
