I'm sure that's why you're sitting at a green light - safety - not that you're looking at your damn phone.

when in drivers ed it tells you to look both ways before crossing an intersection, even if it is green because of situations like this where inpatient drivers would rather gun it through a yellow to red than to slow down, also a lot of the time if a truck like this is already close to the light at full speed it takes a long time for them to slow down so they will just honk their horn and go through it

I drive through an intersection 10 times a week this intersection has had 45 wrecks in the last two years often after the light switches to standby for the night (between 10pm and 6am) this is where the main road has automatic right-of-way (blinking amber light) and the secondary road has a required stop (blinking red) 90% of the wrecks are people blasting through the red lights and smashing into someone else. I ALWAYS stop and I know I have the amber light because of the statistics of that intersection.

I encounter assholes on their phone sitting at green lights every day, they get mad at you for not appreciating the fact that they allow you to waste your time while they scroll Facebook.
