Fear is what increases. Until we beat people over the head with it, dangers that have existed for decades or even time imortal are out of mind. How many people do you know with fire insurance, renters insurance? Until someone drills the fear into us or we confront it in our life and see just how fragile existence is, we largely don't think of things like the fact anyone could fly a plane into a building or drive a bus through a school. We can't and still live our lives. The world is a dangerous place. When someone is telling you to fear something ask why. The guy telling you that earthquake insurance in Idaho is a good buy may just be trying to sell you earthquake insurance. That doesn't mean ignore danger, it means use common sense.
That's why I think News should also focus on good things that are happening, of course bad news like murders, theft etc. are more entertaining but it's important to show that the whole world isn't filled up with just the horrors that the news portrays. There is good out there too.
And do you know why crime dropped so much? Legalized abortion in the 1970s! We were able to kill off the future criminals before they even arrived in the scene.
Not racist, either.
