From my personal experience as a parent when I yell my kids’ names I want them to respond by coming to me so that I can talk to them at a normal volume.

Why wouldn't you just say their name and tell them to come to you then? Understanding subtlety isn't my strong suit so I feel like if my parents' had done that to me growing up it would've saved me from a lot of annoyance and pointless yelling back and forth where I figured if what they were yelling about was actually important they would've said so.

Same as when you yelled for glass of water from bed. You didn’t want them to just yell back WHHHAAAATTTT. You wanted them to come to your room. Same thing.

That last half of the paragraph sounds oddly inappropriate. Screaming your name and you say yeeeeaaaah...
