Once upon a time- the reality of daily life was that if you didn’t get successful results- you and possibly your group all died or suffered greatly. Many today are fortunate enough to not face those realities. The price of failure simply means living without extras. In most developed nations most basic survival needs are not a major concern. You may be homeless or in a shared home that isn’t your ideal, you may be hungry or have to eat things you don’t want- you may have to do without gadgets and toys- but you will survive in these places. Survival will always be the primary concern. So in a sense- for those people where survival doesn’t depend on their success, they may have the luxury to put mental health first. In the end the best practical balance one can achieve is usually the best course. If you’re willing to give up some mental health for some added comfort only you can make that choice.
