Maybe he is just a big Dukes of hazard fan? lol
But seriously every person I knew growing up in the south the flag did NOT mean hate. It meant everything but hate.
The day after Lincoln made it about slavery, a massive number of confederates surrendered, defected, or deserted. Their families didn't have slaves, why would they fight and die to benefit a small fraction of the population?
All right, I hear people say the Civil War wasn't about slavery until Lincoln made it about slavery, but everything I can find out regarding how the war started says it was about slavery. Maybe not the morality of slavery, but the state right to legalize slavery, or the economic impact of racism. It wasn't started with the purpose of ending slavery, sure, but slavery was at the heart of the conflict. Am I just not understanding something?
It was mainly about the south wanting to trade with europe on their own, and the north didn't like it. There were many factors, including some people in europe who wanted a war (the usual suspects; aka rothschilds family), with britain and france involved; actually, fun fact, the tsar of russia was bros with lincoln, and actually sent some of russia's navy to guard some of our ports on both oceans to keep europe from getting involved. The "north" (the federal government, really) wanted more control of the country.
I'm pretty split on the war, because aside from slavery (which wasn't truly necessary; they could have picked all of the cotton themselves and been just fine), I think the south was more "right" in the conflict, but then they were being manipulated by these evil european bankers. Lincoln, like Kennedy and Jackson, went against these banks and got shot for it. Lincoln was also pretty "right" in my mind. You know he intended to send the blacks back to africa afterwards?
But what type of dad doesn't know how to change a flat?
