I always thought the car's blinker showed my dad where to turn when driving. So I thought our car knew all the routes.

I thought the same thing. One time I asked my older brother how the car knew where we wanted to go and he made fun of me

I thought turning the wheel to the right/left put on the blinkers, that they stay off as long as the wheel stays straight.
