The Air Force has had issues with hyper-religiousness... basically shunning anyone in the academy who doesn't adhere to a strict religious fervor that runs rampant through it's ranks. There have been... not just hazing-level incidents, but straight up beatings and stuff for people who don't adhere to this fervor. I can understand a faith in God when you're going mach 3, but beating fellow soldiers, sometimes to the brink of death? Nah.
