Or Minerals. Look at Afghanistan. Makes you wonder how anybody can believe 9/11 was done by terrorists. the U.S. military knew Afghanistan sat on a trillion dollar lithium mine back in the late 90's. Plus other rare minerals.

It was done by terrorists mostly from Saudi Arabia but of course no-one is going to fuck around with them cus they have a shit ton of money and connections so Afghanistan became the scapegoat in some ways and 9/11 was used as an excuse to justify putting boots on the ground and taking what they wanted.
I was reading a book by an Afghani author, Khalid Hosseini, and there was this line where, after seeing the pain and suffering of Afghanis, the protagonist goes to a developed city and in every little thing, imagines the city Kabul could've become. First time I actually closed a book to reeaally think about the words.
