My mom use to work at 7ELEVEn lol everyday this elderly man who lived on the streets who would come in and buy his lunch or just heat some food in the microwave they knew him so they told him he could use it when ever he wanted. Sometimes my mom would save left over food like hotdogs and such and give them to him.
One day they started asking people to donate to the children's hospital. You pay a dollar and sign a little sticky note shaped like a house and the dollar goes to the hospital. Well when the guy was there it was busy so my mom was cashing people out like a machine with out thinking when he was paying for his food she ask if he wanted to donate.
My mom's eyes got big when she realized what she did lol. He just smiled almost teary eyed. He said I go to so many places and not once did any of them ask me to donate to something I always felt I wasn't human. You are the first. I am going to donate 5 dollars. He got to sign 5 of those little houses and they stuck them right under the cash register and everyday he came in he point them out to people see that I donated 5 whole dollars so how about you give to even just 1 dollar helps. If I can give 5 you can give 1. Because of him they raised the most in the district lol. They were given a pizza party and invited him. He got to take with him the leftovers. After that every year they would do the fundraiser they ask him if he feels like adding as well.
5 years after that he was able to finally get on his feet. But he still came into the store everyday for lunch. My mom told me he died happily in his sleep in his own bed in his own apartment.
